Federal Cabinet members and Pakistan Army officers have said that they would give one month’s pay to the flood relief fund since the nation needed help to recover from flood damage.
The salary of cabinet members will be credited to the Prime Minister’s (PM) Flood Relief Fund.
In the aftermath of catastrophic rains that triggered floods and killed over 900 people since mid-June, authorities have invited philanthropists and residents to lend a hand in relief efforts.
Moreover, the Pakistan Army has planned to open donation centres in all major cities to collect goods from the general people.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), all general officers would contribute their one-month salaries to flood relief efforts.
The decision was made during the 250th Corps Commanders’ Conference, which was presided over by General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

Previously, on the instructions of the Federal Government, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) established the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund and urged banks to raise awareness about the programme.
Members of the coalition government in the centre highlighted the need of contributions, while authorities requested assistance from overseas friends with relief efforts.
