Dongfeng Motor Corp. is preparing to build a name for itself in the electric hyper-SUV sector. The manufacturer introduced two Hummer EV rivals over the weekend under the Mengshi (Warrior) brand name.

Both off-roaders, dubbed ‘M-Terrain’ and ‘M-Terrain S,’ ride on the company’s brand new MORA platform, have roughly 1,000 horsepower (hp), and will be available in showrooms throughout China in 2023.

Both supertrucks seem to be from a science fiction film. The overall appearance of the M-Terrain is more classic, but it is modernized with aggressive style cues including flared fenders, rugged off-road compliance bumpers, bold, angular headlamp and grille design, and sharp lines and creases across the bumper.
The M-Terrain S ups the ante with a rearward-raked roof that gives it the appearance of a tactical desert runner. Although the company has yet to publish official specifics, CarNewsChina reports that it will have two engine choices, quoting a “leaked document.”

The pure-EV powertrain will have a quad-motor setup with 1,070 horsepower and a 140 kWh battery pack with a range of up to 500 kilometres and a stated 0-100 km time of 4.2 seconds.
The second option is to add a range extender (an additional 65.88 kWh lithium-ion battery pack) for up to 800 kilometres of range. It has a horsepower rating of 816 hp.

The ‘M ATS’ smart off-roading technology and the ‘Mega Power’ mode are standard on both off-roaders. The chassis design has been kept basic to enable off-road aficionados to tweak and modify the body to their liking.
