Google is shifting users of Hangouts to Google Chat before the service is discontinued in November of this year.

In March, Google Chat completely replaced Hangouts for users in the workplace. All users who attempt to use Hangouts from their phones or emails will therefore be diverted to Chat. While Hangouts will still be available until November, users will be given a notice at least one month in advance to totally convert to Chat, according to The Verge. We’ve continued to invest in Chat to help people better communicate and express themselves, Google stated in a website announcement. “And now we’re taking measures to help existing Hangouts users shift to Chat.” For its users, Google will move all of their data from Hangout to Chats. Anyone who wants to download the Hangouts chat can do so as well. Google Chat offers more features than Hangouts does to attract new users. “Chat also contains Spaces, a dedicated space for topic-based collaboration,” claims Google. Teams and groups can collaborate on documents, manage projects and files from one central spot, and share ideas. Additionally, using Chat with your Gmail inbox, Spaces, and Meet is made simpler by Gmail’s new integrated view. In order to provide its users with a positive experience, Google intends to continuously improve Chat.
