Sony’s 2022 phone range is completed with the release of the Xperia 5 IV. Sony kept the Xperia 5 series’ modest dimensions, but added some big-phone features and a big-phone pricing.
The Xperia 5 IV is almost the same size as the Xperia 5 III – the IV is 1mm shorter and thinner, but 4g heavier. The 6.1-inch 1080x2520px OLED with a refresh rate of 120Hz remains the focal point, and the display is now 50% brighter than the previous model.
Sony Xperia 5 IV is available in black, ecru white, and green.

Despite the unchanged size, Sony managed to fit in a 10% bigger battery, bringing the Xperia 5 IV’s battery capacity to 5,000mAh, equal the Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 10 IV. This should help to its class-leading battery longevity.

Sony claims that the Xperia 5 IV can be charged to 50% in 30 minutes using a 30W PD charger. The company also promises that the phone’s battery would last up to three years.
However, you’ll need to acquire your own charger, since Sony has eliminated all plastics from the now-extremely tiny retail package. On the bright side, the Xperia 5 IV has wireless charging, a first for the 5 series.

Sony used a conventional camera setup for the Xperia 5 IV. A 12MP triple setup with a 16mm 1/2.5″ sensor is available “A 24mm 1/1.7″ wide with 1.8um pixels, a 60mm 1/3.5” telephoto, and an ultrawide. This year, the variable 3x-4.4x periscope has been substituted with a 2.5x periscope.
All three lenses have autofocus, and the wide and tele are also optically stabilised. All three sensors offer quick 120fps readout, and Sony has extended its Real-time Eye AF and Real-time tracking from its camera array to the Xperia 5 IV’s primary cameras owing to the integration of distance analysis with AI.
