Trains between Lahore and Rawalpindi have been delayed for five days.
Pakistan Railways (PR) has put two new trains between Lahore and Rawalpindi on wait for five days.
The first new train was supposed to arrive at 07:30 PM on September 5, while the second train was supposed to arrive on September 6. A recent PR notification, however, directed the Rawalpindi and Lahore stations to cancel the launch.
According to media reports, the delay is due to a shortage of passengers and the high cost of fuel. PR has yet to publish the service’s working hours, fare pricing, and other data.
The government just announced the launch to help passengers.
The trains will have two air-conditioned business class bogeys, two regular AC bogeys, five economy class bogeys, and a power van, according to authorities.
Operations have been halted.
Due to flood-related destruction, the agency has halted passenger rail operations between Nawabshah and Rohri.
According to officials, the flood water will subside during the next 10 days, allowing for track repairs and ultimate restoration of operations.
They also said that freight van operations had restarted on a few lines at a consistent speed of 10-20 kilometres per hour.
PR also announced a few days ago the suspension of five express trains on the Main Line-1 (ML-1) while the rails are repaired.
It urged travellers to go to their local public relations office to get refunds for pre-booked tickets.
