Pakistan Railways halts special trains between Lahore and Rawalpindi.

Due to a shortage of passengers, Pakistan Railways (PR) has decided to suspend the special trains between Rawalpindi and Lahore.

According to a public relations officer, after discovering about the absence of passengers, Railways Minister Saad Rafique ordered the trains to be stopped. He discovered that PR already operates three separate trains on that route: the Islamabad Express, the Rawal Express, and the Green Line.

The official continued by stating that the timings of the aforementioned three trains were more suited to passengers, while the two special trains were losing money owing to a lack of passengers.

Although the fate of the special trains is unclear, a public relations officer suggested that they would most likely be permanently halted.

Attempts at Rehabilitation

Saad Rafique, Minister of Railways, recently reported that Pakistan Railways suffered a loss of Rs. 525 billion as a result of this year’s severe monsoon season and flood-related losses.

He made the announcement at a news conference at the Railways Headquarters in Lahore on Tuesday, thanking the workers for their efforts to restore operations.

The minister solicited proposals to raise PR income at a meeting before to the press conference. He praised railway authorities for restoring passenger train operations in Karachi and for the full occupancy of the Rehman Baba Express and Khyber Mail after the restoration.

He also discussed recovery options for the damaged railroad rails caused by flooding.
