Karachi weather update: Parts of the city being pounded by heavy rain

Nearly every part of the city, including II Chundrigar Road, Gulistan-e-Johar, North Karachi, Surjani Town, Gadap Town, National Highway, Bahria Town, Malir, Shahrah-e-Faisal, and the suburbs, have seen intermittent rains.
The first monsoon of the season was expected to arrive in the port city after 2:00 p.m., according to meteorologist Jawad Memon earlier in the day.
More precipitation is expected this week.

Monsoon currents are already affecting Pakistan and may continue to do so over the next 24 to 48 hours, according to the most recent warning from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

From the weekend on, the monsoon currents are projected to get more stronger. The PMD stated that due to the influence of this weather system, rain, wind, and thunderstorms are predicted for the following locations from July 5 (night) to July 7: Islamabad, Kashmir, Swat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Hafizabad, MB Din (morning).

On July 5 (night) and 6, significant rainfall is also predicted for Kashmir, Peshawar, Mardan, Kurram, Dir, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Islamabad, the Potohar region, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Sargodha.

The PMD also stated that rain-wind/thundershower activity (with isolated heavy falls) is anticipated in the following locations from July 5 (night) to July 7: Zhob, Ziarat, Barkhan, Loralai, Kohlu, Quetta, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbella, Naseerabad, Sibbi, Panjgur, Turbat, Pasni, Gwadar, Ormara, Kech, Awaran, Kharan, Mir
Potential effects

On July 5 (night) and 6, there is a chance of urban flooding in Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Faisalabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Sialkot due to heavy rainfall.
During the forecast time, flash flooding is also anticipated in the nearby nullahs of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Kashmir, Khuzdar, Lasbella, Naseerabad, Gwadar, Awaran, Barkhan, Bolan, and Kohlu.
In Kashmir, Galliyat, Murree, Chillas, Diamir, Gilgit, Hunza, Astore, and Skardu, rainfall may cause landslides.
Tourists and travellers are urged to exercise additional caution throughout the predicted period.
