Sameena Shah, Shahnawaz Amir’s mother, arrested

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police arrested Sameena Shah, the mother of Shahnawaz Amir, the main accused in the Sarah Inam murder case, on Wednesday.

Shah was detained after Additional Sessions Judge Sohail Sheikh denied her bail application.

After appearing before the Court with her counsel, Shehzad Town Police from Shahzad Town Police station, arrested the accused outside the courtroom. She will be sent to the female police station.

On October 1, a district and sessions court in Islamabad extended Sameena’s interim pre-arrest bail in the Canadian national’s murder case.

The bail was extended after the court on September 26 granted Sameena’s pre-arrest bail plea against a surety bond of Rs50,000 and asked her to join the investigation.

On September 23, Shahnawaz reportedly murdered his wife Sarah at home following a disagreement over a family problem.

Shahnawaz, who was arrested at a farmhouse in Islamabad’s Chak Shahzad region as a suspect in his wife’s murder, confessed to the crime and said that he “thought” his wife was having an affair with someone else. The couple had only been married for three months.

Last month, police filed a first information report (FIR) on the allegation of Station House Officer (SHO) Nawazish Ali Khan under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code (penalty for murder) (PPC).

According to the FIR, the suspect’s mother, Sameena, contacted police on Friday (September 23) to report that her son, Shahnawaz, had murdered his wife with a dumbbell.

According to the FIR, Sameena notified the police that her son was present in the home and had concealed his wife’s body. The house was then raided by the police.

According to the complaint, Shahnawaz had locked himself inside his room, and when the police came in, there were blood streaks on his hands and clothing.

When the police apprehended Shahnawaz, he admitted to repeatedly striking his wife with a dumbbell during an argument and then concealing the Canadian national’s corpse in the bathtub, according to the FIR.

The “murder weapon,” based on the FIR, was hidden beneath Shahnawaz’s bed. After examining the dumbbell, police allegedly discovered blood and hair on it. They subsequently submitted it to be forensically examined.
