TUnder the Petrol Subsidy 2026 Pakistan programme, the Government has rolled out a new fuel relief scheme to ease the burden of soaring petrol prices. Eligible citizens can claim Rs. 100 per litre relief on a fixed monthly quota of petrol for motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqis, other two- and three-wheelers, and small cars.

Owners of motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqis, and similar two- or three-wheeled vehicles can claim the Rs. 100/litre discount on up to 20 litres of petrol every month. Small car owners — those with engines of 800cc or below — are also covered, with a higher monthly allowance of 30 litres at the same discounted rate.

What Is the Petrol Subsidy 2026 Pakistan Scheme?

This is a government-backed subsidy programme designed to soften the financial impact of rising fuel costs on ordinary commuters. It was introduced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in response to a sharp increase in international oil prices, and it specifically targets people who rely on motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqis, other three-wheelers, and compact cars for daily travel.

Rollout Timeline

The scheme is being introduced in stages rather than all at once. Islamabad will be the first to go live, starting the night of September 14–15, 2026, with the rest of the country — including Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan — following from the night of September 16–17, 2026.

Because of this phased approach, when you can actually access the relief will depend on where you live and how far the rollout has progressed in your area.

Why Was This Scheme Introduced?

Petrol prices have climbed due to volatility in global oil markets and ongoing geopolitical tensions. With petrol currently priced at Rs. 375.82 per litre and diesel also seeing significant increases, the government introduced this targeted subsidy to help cushion the impact on everyday commuters.

What’s the Current Price of Petrol?

Petrol is currently priced at Rs. 375.82 per litre. For those within their relief quota, the Rs. 100 discount brings the effective price down to roughly Rs. 275.82 per litre. It’s worth noting, though, that this discount only applies to the litres covered under your monthly quota — it isn’t a blanket price cut at the pump.

How to Confirm Your Eligibility

Applicants should complete registration and verification exclusively through the official government-launched process, which cross-checks vehicle and identity details against government records before approving the subsidy.

Avoid third-party websites or social media forms promising guaranteed approval — these are not affiliated with the government.

Latest Update on the Petrol Subsidy

The rollout is proceeding region by region, with Islamabad receiving the subsidy first. The rest of the country, including AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan, will be brought online afterward. The government has reiterated that the Rs. 100/litre relief will be disbursed strictly according to the eligibility rules and quota limits already announced, and applicants are encouraged to stay updated on the latest official guidance before registering.

Is the Scheme Available Nationwide?

Yes — the scheme technically covers the entire country, including Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. However, the actual availability follows the phased rollout schedule, with Islamabad going live first and other regions joining afterward.

Conclusion

This new fuel relief scheme offers meaningful support for households feeling the pinch of rising petrol prices. Motorcycle and three-wheeler owners can claim relief on up to 20 litres a month, while owners of cars under 800cc can claim it on up to 30 litres.

At Rs. 100 off per litre, that works out to a maximum monthly saving of Rs. 2,000 for two- and three-wheelers, and Rs. 3,000 for eligible small cars.
