An Australian legend returns to coach Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Matthew Hayden, a legendary Australian batter, has been re-appointed as Pakistan’s national team coach for the forthcoming 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. Hayden previously served as Pakistan’s squad mentor at the 2021 T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

Under Hayden’s guidance, Pakistan created history by winning five straight games in the group stages of the championship, including a thrilling victory against archrival India. This was Pakistan’s first World Cup victory against India.

Hayden is set to join the Pakistani camp on October 15, the day after the end of the tri-series in New Zealand.

The powerful opening batsman expressed his joy at rejoining the Pakistan team. Hayden expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to rejoin the Pakistani camp once again and urged the Green Shirts to perform to the best of their skills in Australia.

I’ve watched how Pakistan has been playing in the 2022 Asia Cup, and their victory against India on Sunday was outstanding.

I believe this Pakistan team has what it takes to triumph in Australia, and the conditions will suit them well, both batting and bowling.

This squad has covered all of its bases, and I am certain it will light up the World Cup as it did in the UAE last year.

The 50-year-old further added that he cannot wait to return to the Pakistani dressing room and share his understanding of the circumstances available in Australia.

The 2022 T20 World Cup is expected to begin on October 16, with Sri Lanka against Namibia in the first round. Pakistan will face India in their opening match of the tournament on October 23.
