Angelina Jolie Wants the World Community to “Do More” for Flood Victims in Pakistan
Angelina Jolie, an international humanitarian and Hollywood actress who is in Pakistan to help flood-affected villages, said she had never seen anything like it in her life.
“I’ve never seen anything like this [devastation]… I am overwhelmed,” she said on Wednesday at the National Flood Response Coordination Center (NFRCC) in Islamabad, only a day after visiting Sindh’s south.
“I am absolutely behind you in pushing the international community to do more,” the Hollywood actor assured Pakistan.

She emphasised that “too many children” are starving and that families are in desperate need of assistance.
“If there isn’t enough help, they won’t be here in the next two weeks,” Jolie said.
She said that this is a genuine wake-up call to the globe about the current state of affairs, adding that climate change is real and “very much here.”
Jolie visited flood-displaced residents earlier this week with the international humanitarian group International Rescue Committee (IRC) in an attempt to raise awareness.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees’ special envoy also visited Pakistan in 2005 and most recently in 2010 to address the needs of flood victims.
“I came here several times because of the generosity that the Pakistani people have given to the people of Afghanistan as a host nation throughout the years.” “This time, we find that the nations that do the least environmental harm are experiencing the brunt of the calamity, agony, and death,” she remarked.
While Pakistan generates less than 1% of global carbon emissions, it is one of the nations most vulnerable to the effects of the climate issue.
Meanwhile, Islamabad has urged the world’s wealthier nations to provide climate compensation.
