Soon after the squad’s Ashes victory over England, Cummins had stated that Australia needed to be successful in Asia if they were to truly become the best test team.

His side reacted by winning in Pakistan before travelling to Sri Lanka, where they won the first test by a margin of 10 wickets and clinched a series victory after the first game.

Australia shown they have what it takes to thrive on Sri Lanka’s sharp-turning surfaces after dominating the lifeless tracks in Pakistan.

He referred to his hitters, saying, “We’ve had Marnus [Labuschagne], Travis Head, Cam Green, and Alex Carey [who all] haven’t played Test matches in conditions that have spun this much.

“We have a big series in India next year, so this can really help our batters grow and advance…If you want to be the top test team in the world, you’ve got to be winning abroad,” said the captain of the team.

Before playing India, not just the batters will gain insightful knowledge.

In reference to the leg-spinner who made his Test debut in Pakistan and claimed five wickets in Galle, Cummins remarked of Mitchell Swepson, “[Mitchell] Swepson] hasn’t played on tracks like this as well, so absolutely you learn so much from these tours.”

“Fortunately, we’ll be winning and learning at the same time. It’s a component of the atmosphere we’re attempting to create, Cummins continued.
