Babar Azam Breaks Inzamam’s Record for Most Centuries as Skipper Pakistan’s all-format captain, Babar Azam, added another record to his record after striking a spectacular century in the second game of the seven-match T20I series against England at Karachi’s National Stadium
The right-handed batsman hit 110 runs off 66 balls, including 11 boundaries and five maximums, surpassing Inzamam-ul-record Haq’s for most centuries as a Pakistani captain.
In 131 innings, the previous skipper achieved nine hundreds, whilst Babar Azam earned 10 centuries in just 84 innings. Misbah-ul-Haq has eight centuries, Imran Khan has six, and Azhar Ali has five.
Captain | Centuries | Innings |
Babar Azam | 10 | 131 |
Inzamam-ul-Haq | 9 | 84 |
Misbah-ul-Haq | 8 | 189 |
Imran Khan | 6 | 186 |
Azhar Ali | 5 | 40 |
The 27-year-old batsman also became the first Pakistani to make two hundreds in one-day cricket. He scored his first century against South Africa in 2021, when Pakistan was chasing a massive 205-run total.
The all-format captain also surpassed Champions Trophy-winning captain Sarfaraz Ahmad’s 29 T20 international victories to become Pakistan’s most successful captain.
After facing criticism for his poor performance at the just finished Asia Cup 2022, where he scored only 68 runs in six innings, Babar Azam restored his form.
