Rabi-ul-Awwal, 1444 AH, will be observed on September 28 because there is “no chance” that the new moon will be seen on September 26 evening.

The PMD said in a statement that the new moon will be at a crossing conjunction point at 2:54 Pakistan Standard Time (PST) on September 26. This means that the moon won’t be visible on the 29th of Safar, which is Monday evening, September 26.

The statement also said that, based on climate data, the weather will likely stay clear or partly cloudy across the country on the evening of September 26.

On September 26, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet to look for the new moon of Rabi-ul Awwal.

At their respective offices, the Zonal and District Ruet-e-Hilal committees are also likely to hold meetings to gather proof that the new moon has been seen.

Since Rabi-ul-Awwal is expected to start on September 28, Eid Milad-un-Nabi, which is the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal, should happen on October 9.

Muslims all over the world celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi every year to remember the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
