Endocrinologist Dr Tasnim Ahsan was honoured with the Endocrine Society’s prestigious Laureate Award 2023, a first for Pakistan.
This year’s Laureate Awards will recognise a total of 12 health experts and professions. The prize recognises the accomplishments of endocrine researchers and physicians throughout the globe, and Dr. Ahsan is one of them.
The Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) professor emerita and founding dean of the Medicell Institute of Diabetes Endocrinology & Metabolism in Karachi has been recognized for her exceptional contributions to the field in geographical areas with underdeveloped resources for hormone health research, education, clinical practice, or administration.
Dr. Ahsan is a world-renowned physician and professor who has helped to create and promote the specialty of endocrinology in Pakistan.
In 1993, she established her first endocrinology practice at JPMC, a public-sector hospital, and she has educated over 100 postgraduate trainee physicians in internal medicine and endocrinology.
She is committed to expanding access to treatment and treats a large transgender population at the Medicell Institute.
She is also a founder of the Pakistan Endocrine Society.
