RAWALPINDI: Tension flared outside Adiala Jail on Friday after Aleema Khan, the sister of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, was targeted with eggs during a brief talk with journalists.

Aleema had just attended a hearing of the Toshakhana case and was speaking to the media when two women suddenly threw eggs at her. Though momentarily taken aback, she quickly regained her composure, saying:
“We knew such things could happen, so it doesn’t bother us.” She then left the area in her vehicle to avoid further disturbance.

According to Rawalpindi police, the women involved were associated with PTI and had arrived from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They were reportedly part of demonstrations organized by the All Government Employees Grand Alliance (AGEGA) and APCA, protesting against Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur over salary delays and administrative grievances.

Police stated that the attack occurred after Aleema refused to respond to their queries. Both women were immediately detained and taken to the Adiala police post for interrogation.

The incident angered PTI supporters present outside the jail. Former MPA Seemabia Tahir and other workers strongly condemned the act, accusing the women of deliberately trying to create unrest and damage the party’s image.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan also denounced the incident, calling it a direct attempt to provoke instability:
“This is the first time a physical attack has been carried out on the PTI founder’s family. Certain elements are trying to escalate the situation.”

He demanded strict security measures for Imran Khan’s family, emphasizing that such incidents cannot be taken lightly.
