ISLAMABAD: Electricity is expected to become more costly as the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted an application with NEPRA requesting a Rs4.69 paisa per unit increase in power rate.
According to information, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has requested that the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) raise the price of power by Rs4.69 per unit due to the July monthly fuel adjustment.
On August 31, the NEPRA will hear CPPA’s request. Consumers would bear an extra burden of more than Rs65 billion as a result of the rise.
According to the CPPA, in July, 35.17 percent of power was produced by water, 12.74 percent by coal, 1.46 percent by diesel, and 6.42 percent by furnace oil.
According to CPPA, the cost of diesel-generated power was Rs27.88 per unit, while the cost of furnace oil-generated electricity was Rs35.69 paisa per unit.
According to CPPA, the reference cost for July was set at Rs6.28 paise per unit, while the production cost of electricity was Rs10.98 paise per unit, resulting in a total of 13 billion 76 crore units of energy produced in July.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) also requested a raise of Rs1.85 per unit in market operating costs last week.
