Honda Atlas Cars Limited (HACL) is preparing to launch Pakistan’s first domestically produced crossover SUV. The firm has released a new teaser for the 2022 Honda HR-V, suggesting that it will be available soon.
According to a industry report last month, HACL will unveil the compact crossover this month. It also said that the SUV’s starting price will be approximately Rs. 6 million, which, knowing HACL, seemed to be a touch optimistic. Given that the Honda Civic starts at Rs. 6.3 million, the HR-V will most likely cost about Rs. 7 million.
HACL first revealed the HR-V during the 2022 Pakistan Auto Show (PAS). It is a small crossover SUV that competes with the Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, MG HS, Haval Jolion, and other SUVs of the same size.
It offers a variety of powertrains in different markets, including a hybrid electric alternative. However, the Pakistani-spec SUV will most likely feature these two engines:
A 1.5-liter 4-cylinder naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine with 119 horsepower (hp) and 145 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.
A 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine with 179 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque.

Both engines use a CVT automatic gearbox to transfer power solely to the front wheels.
Honda Imaging technique, which includes blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, lane keep assist, automated braking, traffic sign reading, lane departure warning, and other features, comes standard on the HR-V.
Six airbags, parking sensors, smart infotainment, automated temperature control, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, hill-start assist, hill descent control, electronic parking brake, and other amenities are included.
Given the current popularity of suvs in Pakistan, the Honda HR-V is set to take the automobile sector by storm.

According to market speculation, if priced properly, the HR-V may even force HACL to retire the Civic in Pakistan.
Due to its high price, the premium sedan is already underperforming in terms of sales. As a result, the HR-V outselling the Civic seems to be a realistic prospect.
