Hyundai Tucson is one of the top five best-selling cars in August 2022.
Massive production cuts and price increases have impacted automobile sales in recent months. Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC), Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC), and Honda Atlas Cars Limited (HACL) all experienced poor sales in July and August.
Despite the country’s economic and trade difficulties, sales of some cars remained strong. Last month, Hyundai Nishat Motors Private Limited (HNMPL) recorded a massive 860% increase in sales, outselling HACL, which is a significant milestone.
The following are the top five best-selling vehicles in August:
Non-PAMA members Kia, Changan, Proton, Haval, MG, Prince-DFSK, and United did not release official sales numbers.
Honda Civic
Following its recent sales, the Honda City’s popularity has been evident. The subcompact sedan beat the Toyota Corolla, one of Pakistan’s most popular vehicles, as well as other subcompact cars such as the Suzuki Swift and Toyota Yaris.
Last month, HACL sold just 830 copies of City, placing it at the bottom of the list. However, its sales are expected to rebound after manufacturers figure out how to deal with import barriers.
Hyundai Tucson
In an unexpected turn of events, HNMPL has reached the bestsellers’ list thanks to its star crossover, the Hyundai Tucson.
Last month, the carmaker sold 985 Tucsons, beating out numerous other top sellers on this list. However, given the recent price and tax rate increases, sales of all crossover SUVs, including the Tucson, are projected to stay below 1,000 units in the future.
Toyota Yaris
Toyota saw an increase in sales in August. Sales of the Yaris, in particular, increased by 102% when compared to July. Toyota IMC sold 1,306 Yaris cars last month, putting it in third place among Pakistan’s best-selling automobiles.
Toyota Corolla
Despite a turbulent manufacturing month, Toyota Corolla has restored its status as Pakistan’s best-selling vehicle. Given the current operational recession, Toyota IMC sold 1,595 Corollas in July 2022, a remarkable result for the compact sedan.
Despite a significant drop in sales, the Suzuki Alto remains Pakistan’s best-selling automobile. PSMC sold 2,293 Altos in August, making it the best-selling car in Pakistan for the eighth month in a row.
Even with Alto’s sales, PSMC saw a significant decline because to the remaining lineup’s poor sales. All automakers and industry analysts anticipate a further drop in demand in the coming days as a result of the dollar’s recovery, price increases, and extended delivery delays.
