Islamabad, Rawalpindi Weather Update – A new spell of monsoon rains in Islamabad and Rawalpindi has prompted the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to issue an urgent warning for residents. Authorities have cautioned that the ongoing downpour could trigger flash floods and landslides, especially in Margalla Hills and surrounding areas.

CDA Advises Residents to Stay Alert
The CDA has asked residents of Saidpur Village and Sector E-11 Islamabad to remain vigilant as water levels in Swan River and Korang Nallah continue to rise. Citizens living close to drains and low-lying areas have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain.
Flash Flood & Landslide Risk in Margalla Hills
Officials said that heavy rainfall in Margalla Hills could cause dangerous landslides, while overflowing storm drains may lead to urban flooding in nearby localities. The CDA also reminded citizens not to dump garbage into drains, as this blocks the natural water flow and increases the risk of flooding in Islamabad.
Rawalpindi and Punjab Thunderstorm Forecast
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), thunderstorms and heavy showers are expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, and Gujrat. Other Punjab cities, including Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, and Faisalabad, are also likely to experience more rainfall in the coming hours.
Emergency Services on High Alert
Rescue teams, including Rescue 1122 Islamabad, Metropolitan Police, and the Municipal Services Directorate, are on high alert. Rescue vehicles, machinery, and medical teams have been stationed at key locations to ensure a quick response in case of flood emergencies or landslides in Islamabad.
Authorities Call for Public Cooperation
The CDA has stressed the need for community support during this critical time. Citizens have been urged to follow official advisories, avoid practices that block drainage systems, and cooperate with rescue teams.
Pakistan Weather Forecast – Northern and Southern Regions
The PMD reported that intermittent rainfall is expected in Islamabad today, while heavy showers are also likely in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, and Mansehra. Rainfall has also been forecast for Abbottabad, Haripur, Malakand, Bajaur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Kohat, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, and Waziristan.
In southern Punjab, cities including Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Khushab, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Multan, Layyah, Bhakkar, and Mianwali are expected to receive showers with thunder.
Meanwhile, Sindh weather will remain humid and partly cloudy, with chances of rain in Tharparkar, Umarkot, Mithi, Thatta, Hyderabad, and Badin. Other Sindh districts, including Dadu, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Larkana, and Jacobabad, may also experience rainfall.
