Latency and web page load speeds on Pakistani mobile networks are below average: PTA
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) conducted an impartial Quality of Service (QoS) Survey in 14 cities throughout Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Balochistan to assess the performance and quality of Cellular Mobile Operators’ (CMOs’) services.

The survey was carried out in the Balochistan cities of Ziarat, Mastung, Khuzdar, Sibbi, and Usta Muhammad.

The survey was carried out in Faisalabad, Gojra, Multan, and Khanewal in Punjab, and Mingora, Batkhela, Mardan, Abbottabad, and Haripur in Haryana.
CMOs have been rated between first and fourth in Mobile Network Coverage and Voice Services as per compliance level in surveyed cities based on the compliance level of each KPI against the threshold established in the applicable licences and QoS Regulations.

Similarly, in the Mobile Broadband Speed section, the greatest data download and upload speed, network latency, and website loading time were ranked.
Survey Findings

The survey findings indicated that CMOs are generally compliant in terms of upload and download speed, although network latency and website loading time were determined to be below the standard.

SMS and voice KPIs have also been discovered to be below the permitted level in several places.

Finally, the appropriate instructions were sent to the operators to take corrective actions in order to guarantee that the service quality met the norms. The survey findings have been posted on the PTA website for the subscribers’ convenience.

During the survey, the state-of-the-art automated QoS Monitoring & Benchmarking Tool was used to assess KPIs mentioned in the Next Generation Mobile Service (NGMS) licence and Cellular Mobile Network Quality of Service (QoS) Regulations 2021.

The survey routes were chosen by the Drive test teams to encompass key roads, service roads, and the bulk of sectors/colonies in the examined locations.

The service quality monitoring activity is carried out by PTA field teams with the ultimate goal of pursuing operators for improved mobile service supply and promoting healthy competition among providers.
