Mobile Repair Shops Caught by PTA for Tampering IMEIs, Selling Patched Devices

The PTA will crack down on Internet and TV wires dangling from power poles.

In a major crackdown on illegal mobile phone activities, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office in Abbottabad, in coordination with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), carried out successful raids against shops involved in IMEI tampering and the sale of cloned or patched devices.

The operations targeted mobile phone repair shops located near Fowara Masjid Mochi Bazaar, Haripur, and along Main GT Road, Haripur. During the raids, authorities confiscated mobile phones, desktop computers, laptops, USB devices, and DVRs. Three individuals were arrested on the spot and handed over to the NCCIA Abbottabad for further legal action.
