The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) recently sent out a notice that the M2 motorway near Thokar Niaz Baig would be closed.

The National Highway Authority (NHA) is fixing the road, which got a lot of damage from the monsoon rains. A Tweet from the NHMP says that they have put up a detour near Thokar Niaz Baig. From there, the police officers are directing people to another route.

Twitter alerts say that NHA is fixing parts of the M2 in different places. Roadwork is being done on roads near Babu Sabu, Sial, and a few other places. The NHMP has told drivers to be careful around these areas.
Problems with the NHA

During a meeting of a standing committee last week, members of the assembly criticised NHA for taking too long to fix roads.

Senator Kamil Ali Agha said that the toll tax money should be used first and foremost to fix up the roads. He also said that the M2 has gotten so bad that it is dangerous and hard to drive on.

Also, Senator Saifullah Abro was upset that the toll tax on highways went from Rs. 160 to more than Rs. 1,000. He also said that the price hike has made it hard for people to use highways.

During the same session, the toll tax exemption for MNAs and MPAs was brought back, which did not go over well with the public.

People were saying all over social media that the government is putting its weight on the people while not being held accountable and having a lot of corruption.

People didn’t like the government’s decision to give MNAs free tolls again, saying that they should be treated the same as everyone else.
