KARACHI: According to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) official, the federal government has scheduled flight operations of foreign airlines and helicopter services for Skardu and Gilgit to increase tourism.
Director General CAA Khaqan Murtaza provided the information during a press conference on Wednesday.
He added that foreign airlines had been given permission to operate flights in Skardu and Gilgit. “We are planning to develop tourism in Gilgit, Skardu, and Chitral through operating huge planes,” he said.
With a new runway under construction and provisions for helicopter landing in major tourist destinations, the Skardu airport has been accorded the status of an international airport.
According to the DG CAA, Gwadar, Turbat, and Mohenjo Daro will also be served by the tourism operation. The airport at Saidu Sharif has also been opened, he declared.
According to Khaqan Murtaza, the UAE government has designated specific laboratories for the purpose and ordered a quick antigen COVID-19 test before travellers leave Pakistani airports.
He stated, “We are offering every convenience to the travellers,” and noted that as a result of recent limitations, the majority of passengers are leaving from Peshawar and Islamabad airports for skardu
