Today, ECNEC is considering mega construction projects worth over Rs. 400 billion.

The National Economic Council’s Executive Committee (ECNEC) will vote today on 14 projects, including the Rs. 400 billion Chashma Right Bank Canal project.

An official source informed pakmatters that the ECNEC would review 14 projects worth hundreds of billions of rupees.

Aside from the Chashma Right Bank Canal project (Rs 237.3 billion), the ECNEC is also considering the Lowari Road Tunnel and Access Roads Project (Rs 46.04 billion).

The ECNEC is also considering the Naulong Multipurpose Dam Project Jhal Magsi. The project’s overall cost is Rs. 39.944 million. According to the source, the Asian Development Bank would finance 80% of the project, while the Public Sector Development Program would fund 20%. (PSDP).

The meeting’s agenda also includes the dualization of the Karachi-Quetta-Chamman Road (N25) Karachi-Kararo portion and the dualization of the Kararo to Wadh section of the (N25).

The committee will also discuss the revised Locust Emergency and Food Security Project (LEAFS) costing Rs. 25.120 billion.

The gathering will also discuss the Allama Iqbal Scholarship for Afghan Students initiative.

The committee will also discuss the installation and augmentation of 500kV and 220kV transformers at existing Grid Stations to alleviate NTDC system restrictions, the 500kV Sialkot Substation, and the upgrade of the current 220kV Vehari Substation to 500kV Vehari Substation.

The meeting will also discuss a project relating to the Punjab Rural Sustainability Program. ECNEC will also review two policy documents pertaining to directions for techno-economic feasibility assessments and processes to discharge remaining liabilities of the closed project.
