Twitter responds to Netflix's new programme 'Blockbuster.'

Netflix dropped a preview for its forthcoming programme Blockbuster, and Twitter followers couldn’t believe it.

Netflix, according to HuffPost, was started in 1997 and shortly began selling DVD rentals via mail.

Blockbuster reportedly had the option of buying Netflix in 2000 but declined. After years of significant financial losses and the launch of Netflix’s successful streaming service in 2007, the rental shop firm filed for bankruptcy in 2010.

The show follows Timmy (Randall Park), a Blockbuster Video manager, and his staff as they try to keep their shop – the company’s sole surviving site — alive. The series’ first season, which also stars Melissa Fumero and Olga Merediz, will premiere on November 3.

To add to the irony, the programme will be available only on Netflix.

Timmy grimaces when he learns that their Blockbuster shop is the “last one on Earth” after a spate of recent closures.
