Google has announced a $0.5 million contribution to flood victims in Pakistan. As Pakistan battles horrific floods caused by the heaviest monsoon rains in a decade, which have killed almost 1,200 people and flooded one-third of the country, Google said on Thursday that it would give $0.5 million (Rs110 million) to flood victims.
“During this time of disaster, Google.org will donate US$0.5 (110 Million PKR) via its philanthropic arm to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, which will be made to sub-grants to local organisations who are actively involved in crisis response and recovery,” Google said in a statement.
In addition, Google employees are giving at this vital time. Employees have already donated more than Rs72 million in personal contributions and company matching in only a few days, according to IT giant.
According to the statement, Google intends to extend its assistance by taking the lead to gather donations and finances for flood victims in order to assist fellow citizens who are suffering in the middle of devastation.

It also said that it would continue to look for new ways to assist flood victims.
Millions of Pakistanis are being impacted by the greatest torrential rains and floods in the nation’s history, according to the report, which adds that the disastrous floods, on top of the current pandemic, are creating havoc in the country.
