Pakistan Railways will get 230 new passenger coaches by 2023, according to the Minister of Railways.

Pakistan Railways (PR) will get 230 new passenger coaches by December 2022, according to Federal Minister for Railways and Aviation Saad Rafique. According to details, these coaches will feature a variety of modern facilities and will be capable of travelling at speeds of up to 160 kilometres per hour.

According to a Pakistan Railways spokeswoman, the department would first purchase 46 modern passenger coaches from China and manufacture 184 identical coaches at Carriage Factory Islamabad. Similarly, PR will first import 200 cargo vans and domestically build 620 vehicles.

According to the spokesman, each passenger coach will have 80 compartments for the economy and air-conditioned classes, 30 parlour carriages, and 20 baggage and brake vans.
Flood-Related Losses

According to a recent study, PR has been losing about Rs. 100 million every day as a result of the persistent monsoon rains and subsequent floods around the nation.

According to a senior public relations officer, the rain and floods have wrecked multiple railway lines, halting operations and putting various sections of the nation unreachable.

PR stated a few days ago that five fast trains on the Main Line-1 (ML-1) would be suspended until the rails were rehabilitated. The department has advised travellers to go to their local public relations office to get refunds for pre-booked tickets.
