The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoITT) has agreed to develop an AI policy (AI).
According to sources, it has solicited policy recommendations from specialists. After AI specialists provide recommendations to the ministry, a rough draught of the policy will be developed.
According to MoITT authorities, the goal of developing an AI strategy is for the government to invest in the development and adoption of this sector in order to assure its advantages for the economy and society. The government also intends to use the strategy to give incentives for the private sector to participate in the AI industry.
To advance the AI industry, initiatives must be taken to encourage young people to pursue courses in Big Data, Machine Learning, Robotics, and other related fields. According to the sources, the strategy would include initiatives to encourage educational institutions to go in this direction.
AI specialists feel that the government is making good progress. Because AI has grown vital in every industry, the world is fast heading toward it. Following in the footsteps of Canada, China, the United States, and Japan, India has developed national initiatives to encourage the usage and growth of IA.
According to experts, several industries in Pakistan have begun to use AI, such as vehicle e-challans through Safe City cameras. Furthermore, owing to the use of automation systems by businesses, this industry is predicted to grow by 60% in the next years.
